Job Description

DESCRIPTION OF ROLE

The Tyreman is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and corrective servicing of tyres across fleet vehicles. The role focuses on ensuring tyre integrity, optimal performance, and compliance with operational and safety standards through accurate diagnostics, repair, and fitment procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Execute routine tyre inspections, condition assessments, and serviceability evaluations across fleet units.

·         Manage tyre lifecycle activities, including tracking wear patterns, retread intervals, and repair history.

·         Detect and diagnose punctures and structural defects in tubeless and tube-type tyres using approved inspection methods (visual and immersion testing).

·         Perform professional puncture repairs in accordance with established repair standards and safety guidelines.

·         Conduct pre-inspections prior to external wheel alignment and dynamic/ static balancing to manufacturer and operational specifications.

·         Operate and maintain tyre servicing equipment, including changers, balancers, and inflation systems.

·         Interpret tyre size designations, load indices, speed ratings, and cross-equivalents for correct application.

·         Diagnose tyre-related anomalies such as irregular wear, sidewall damage, bead failure, and recommend corrective actions.

·         Provide accurate technical reports and feedback to supervisors to support maintenance planning and decision-making.

·         Ensure full compliance with BSLL occupational quality, health, safety, and environmental (QHSE) standards.

·         Support general fleet maintenance operations as directed by supervisory personnel.

 REQUREMENTS

·         A Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) - minimum mean grade pass or equivalent.

·         Minimum 2 years’ hands-on experience in tyre servicing, preferably within heavy commercial vehicles and mixed fleet environments.

·         Valid driving license.

·         Demonstrated competency in tyre fitment procedures, and capacity to advise on potential wheel balancing and alignment processes.

·         Ability to operate independently under minimal supervision within high-demand operational environments.
