Job Description

The Company has One (1) vacant position for: Declaration Officer under Clearing & Forwarding Department

DESCRIPTION OF ROLE

The Declaration Officer will be responsible for supervision, collation of data and ensuring that timely and correct declaration of shipment through ICMS, TFP and Asycuda systems and up-to-date Bond management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow up shipping line Manifests.

  • Confirm that all required documents are in the file to enable them to register the entry.

  • Confirm manifests given by the shipping line is ok and validated in the system to enable them to register the entry.

  • To follow-up on manifest correction/amendment in case of description, weight and packages discrepancies.

  • Attend to all queries and be able to defend your declarations about declaration matters from KRA.

  • Application of IDF and Other Permits on TFP

  • Timely & correct lodging of entries and preparation of customs files

  • Conversant with the customs rules and regulations for defense if disputes are raised.

  • Confirmation and be conversant with correct HS codes applicable on all the goods under import/export.

  • Be conversant with all customs regimes e.g. Imports, Exports, Warehousing, Transshipment and Transit declaration for both Sea, Air and road declarations.

  • Be able to apply for customs bonds, management of Bond schedule, replenish, renewal and cancellations.

  • Be conversant with KPA Kwatos, Biller account systems for both export and import processing.

  • Follow up on border documentation and clearance.

  • Work in a manner that does not compromise your safety and the safety of other process stakeholders.

  • Any other duties which may be delegated by the Line Manager from time to time.

REQUREMENTS  

  • Have a diploma in clearing & forwarding from a recognized institution

  • East African Customs Freight Forwarding Practicing Certificate Course (EACFFPC) and KESRA Certification

  • Three years’ experience in a similar capacity in a fast-paced environment.

  • Detail-oriented, well-organized and able to multi-task.

  • Capable of working unsupervised
