Job Description
DESCRIPTION OF ROLE
To oversee the daily operations of the tire section, ensuring safe and efficient tire services, oversee the implementation, operation, and maintenance of the tire management system as well as equipment maintenance, team supervision, and adherence to company safety and quality standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise Tire Team: Supervise tire bay team members, ensure team punctuality and discipline. Ensure proper handling, care, and maintenance of all company-issued property and tools and that team members work in a safe environment.
Supervise Tire Maintenance: Manage tire section checklists, oversee the inspection, ensure correct tire application and correct tire fitting procedures are followed and the repair of rims & tires meet safety and performance standards.
Oversee tire management system: Ensure accurate data entry, maintain accurate tyre inventory, monitor functionality and efficiency of the TMS.
Schedule and Coordinate: Develop daily and weekly work plans for all sites, ensure planned and scheduled regular tire inspections, rotations, and replacements are executed. Timely communication of all tire changes. Adhere to daily vehicle release schedules.
Data Analysis: Monitor and analyze the performance of both new and retreaded tires, recommend improvements, prepare reports on all site tire inspections, incidents, and tire consumption.
Emergency Response: Manage emergency tire repairs and replacements to minimize downtime.
Training and Development: Supervise, train and mentor tire inspectors & maintenance staff on tire management best practices.
Compliance and Safety: Ensure all tire related activities comply with BSLL QHSE policies, procedures, regulations and safety standards.
Budget Management: Create monthly requirements of new tires, retreads and consumables and assist in managing the budget for tire maintenance and procurement.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a form four, additional technical training or certification in automotive maintenance is a plus.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in tire management or fleet maintenance, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
Excellent communication abilities, strong organizational and leadership skills.
Proficiency in Computer and using Tyre Management Software (TMS) is required.
In-depth understanding of tyre maintenance, repair techniques, and safety standards for heavy commercial vehicles.
Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting heavy tyres and working in various weather conditions.
Valid driver’s license and ability to drive vehicles is a plus.
