The Company has Three(3) vacant positions for: Rigger under the Transport Department

DESCRIPTION OF ROLE

Riggers are highly specialized in moving jobs that cannot be accomplished by ordinary means and use equipment expressly designed for moving and lifting heavy objects in places where ordinary material handling equipment cannot go. Because of the highly specialized nature of the work riggers do, it is learned by on-the-job training approach. Riggers must work together as a cohesive team, and there must be an environment of trust among riggers because of the potentially dangerous nature of rigging.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads, in order to ensure safety of workers and materials. 
• Attach loads to rigging to provide support or prepare them for moving, using hand and power tools Select gear such as slings, shackles, chokers and winches, according to load weights and sizes, facilities, and work schedules. 
• Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces, using chain falls, gin poles, gallows frames, and other equipment. 
• Manipulate rigging lines, hoists, and pulling gear to move or support materials such as heavy equipment.
• Clean and dress machine surfaces and component parts. 
• Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms, using bolts and clamps. 
• Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use. 
• Coordinate and ensure all tasks are completed on time. 
• Follow directions carefully. 
• Comply with regulations and safety requirements. 
• Any additional tasks that may be assigned.

 REQUIREMENTS

• A minimum of Kenya Certificate Secondary Education with a mean grade of D+ or its equivalent.
• Competency training certificate
• Must have at least 1year experience working in a lifting environment. 
• Must have basic rigging training.
• Rigging Certification from a recognized institution
