Job Description
DESCRIPTION OF ROLE
This role is responsible for the design, development, roll out, management and security of systems infrastructure in the company. The role will collaborate with other team members to ensure the organization’s systems provide value and deliver optimal performance as per business requirements; and international ICT systems best standards and practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, configure, and implement scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure solutions that support business operations.
Evaluate and recommend new technologies and solutions for infrastructure optimization and modernization.
Participate in capacity planning and system scaling to ensure the systems meet performance and growth requirements.
Administer and maintain servers, databases, storage solutions, and network components.
Monitor system performance, perform regular maintenance, and ensure high availability.
Troubleshoot and resolve system issues promptly to minimize downtime and disruptions.
Design and implement security measures to safeguard systems and data, including firewalls, encryption, and access controls.
Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and implement patch management processes.
Stay up to date with security threats, industry standards, and compliance regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).
Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline system administration tasks (e.g., deployment, patching, monitoring).
Use configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef) to automate and manage infrastructure.
Implement and manage backup strategies to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
Design and test disaster recovery plans to minimize the impact of potential system failures.
Work closely with developers, network engineers, and other teams to ensure the infrastructure supports application needs and operational requirements.
Maintain detailed and up-to-date documentation for infrastructure designs, configurations, and security protocols.
Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to ensure infrastructure remains competitive and secure.
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE
Degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Telecommunications Engineering, Data Science or ICT is mandatory.
Proven experience (3+ years) as a Systems Engineer or in a similar role with a focus on infrastructure, security, and administration.
Strong knowledge of system administration (Linux/Windows), network protocols, and server hardware.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid cloud architectures.
Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
Expertise in security best practices, threat management, and vulnerability remediation.
Experience with infrastructure automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, etc.).
Proficient in scripting languages (Bash, Python, PowerShell, etc.).
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
