Job Description

ROLE DESCRIPTION

To operate locomotive safely and efficiently as per the work plan to realize set targets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Overall, in charge of the locomotive during shunting operations.

  2. Carry out machine inspection using checklist provided and report any technical issue before use.

  3. Ensure safe working procedures are always observed within shunting area, participate in hazard identification and prepares incident reports and statements within specified time.

  4. Ensures set work performance targets are achieved.

  5. Ensures resources are optimally utilized to achieve set targets.

  6. Observe safe working procedures and complete the shunting task properly and timely

  7. Coupling and uncoupling of locomotive with rolling stock.

  8. Always pay attention to signal confirmation, constantly look out, conscientiously implement the system of calling and answering, correctly and timely execute the signal display (operation instructions) and shunting speed requirements, don’t start, and don’t move locomotive without signal(instructions)and immediately stop locomotive in case of unclear signal.

  9. Be responsible for handling of shunting locomotives, making good preparation, and ensuring locomotive is in good condition.

  10. In the absence of the Yard Master – Fill for Yard master role while another locomotive driver is handling the locomotive.

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

  1. Locomotive driving course from railway training institute.

  2. A minimum of diploma in any engineering field.

  3. Valid driving license

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  1. Meet the set locomotive shunting targets.

  2. Zero incident during shunting activity.

  3. Zero damage to shunting locomotive.

  4. On time maintenance for the locomotive.

  5. No breach of railway rules and instructions.

  6. Timely & Efficient response to operational incidents and accidents.
