Coupler

To check on the locomotive and standing wagons and ensure the rolling stocks are safely and efficiently connected/disconnected as per the work plan to realize set targets. To be vigilant and be on the lookout of any risks affecting the movement of the locomotive or wagons.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Inspect tracks and standing locomotive and wagons before operation begins.

2. Perform daily checks and report any faults on the locomotive coupling mechanism

3. According to the shunting operation plan and division of work, timely lift couplers, uncouple/couple brake hoses, take/remove anti-running measures and report to the yardmaster after completion of shunting operations on the standing wagons and anti-running conditions.

4. Responsible for front and rear lookout & guidance, request and reply, signal and route confirmation and timely display of proper signals when proceeding with operations.

5. Implement the shunting provisions related to joint operations.

6. Assist Shunting team during the shift.

7. Perform other related duties as assigned.

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

• Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.

• Signal and communication certificate from a recognized institute, a training certificate on rail operations can substitute.

• Valid driving license.
