Forklift Operator

The Company has two (2) vacant positions for Forklift Operators under the Transport Department

DESCRIPTION OF ROLE

To operate the Mobile Equipment safely and efficiently as per the work plan to realize set performance targets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Drives and operates safely the assigned Mobile Equipment.

Transfer cargo/gear tools from one point to another as directed.

Transfer the equipment from the working area to the workshop for inspection and vice versa.

Adherence to Port and National traffic rules and regulations.

Checks fuel, the water level in the tanks and arranges for a refill.

Checks physical and general condition of the equipment and ensures cleanliness daily.

Communicate immediately any breakdown or problems to the operations supervisor in charge and the Lifting Supervisor.

Must always champion and follow all safety rules and regulations in their area of operation to minimize/eliminate any risks.

Must report any incident or accident that involves the equipment assigned and a written statement done by end of shift/handover.

Must be able and licensed to operate various lifting equipment of different categories.

Follow all safety rules and regulations.

Utilizes equipment optimally to achieve set targets.

Comply with BSLL Staff and Safety Regulations, Circulars and Notices issued from time to time.

Carry out any other duties that may be assigned through the Operations Supervisor in charge from time to time

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

A minimum of Kenya Certificate Secondary Education with a mean Pass Grade or its equivalent.

Valid driving license.

Relevant Class “G” Special Type endorsement (Crane, Forklift Truck, Articulated Vehicle. etc.)
